We need sliders
Right now, when altering the proportions of the face and body I am flying blind. I grab and drag a highlighted body feature and adjust it until it looks about right. But sometimes that feels... Clunky? Sometimes i move in one direction and the part gets bigger, but when i keep going it snaps back to small again ect.
*All body parts should have sliders, just like muscle tone and body weight does. *Can we have that graphic (little dot inside the big box), just like the classic character creator? It looks like some body parts have Y and Y axis, which can take a while to fine tune. Especially when you are flying blind. *grabbing and dragging the body part is fine, and should remain. But slider graphics should be an addition *having slider graphics will make body/face tuning more precise than just grabbing and dragging. *having slider graphics will make the user aware of ALL alterable dimensions. Sometimes hovering around looking for adjustable parts, I am not even aware of regions I can adjust. *having slider graphics would make the body and face altering much clearer, easier to control X & Y axis, and easier to set maximum/minimum dimensions. *having slider graphics makes it easier to remember your favourite settings. Eg - You remember that a heroic looking Jaw has the sliders set half way, two thirds, and the last one all the way to the right. I figure many people will prototype their look many many times until they get it right. *having the slider bars visible would allow you to take screenshots of how you made your killer look. For yourself, for future reference. Or to share with your friends. That way, less talented avatar creators could get pointers on how to achieve their look.
Which brings me to another concept..
*Avatar settings should be savable (just like ship fittings) and exportable. Again, for your own reference or if you want to share your creations.
I know some people who like keeping things ultra-real will not feel comfortable with being able to quantify and duplicate your every intimate dimension, because it takes away realism and your individuality. Perhaps this opens up the floodgates to endless barby clones. But still, i think it fits in with the science fiction lore. I imagine many rich citizens in the eve future will be able to pre-select popular models and whizz through the plastic surgery machine, meaning a whole stack of rich people end up looking like the flavour of the month (amusingly).
And if your really love your individual look, you dont have to share it. I know I never do (in other MMOs with crazy customization)
